My 15 Seconds of Fame

Being on the local news, in a story featuring the governor who was touring a building where I was teaching a class on a day when I had broken my big toe and ripped the toenail off that morning and was standing there teaching with no make up on (which I NEVER do), my hair a mess (which it NEVER is), wearing jeans and as sweatshirt (which I NEVER do), with one ice-pack covered bare foot, thinking “Today? Today’s the day that the Governor is going to watch me teach after 37 years????”

Values

c

Glorifying God

I believe that I’m called to glorify God in all that I do. I look to Him for strength, the words and the wisdom to make a difference in people’s lives and in so doing, glorify Him. His grace sustains me in working with all people.
c

People Matter

Each person has been uniquely created with specific purposes, gifts, strengths, talents, and abilities.  I  help to people harness those strengths and maximize their performance in all areas of their life so that they can become who they were created to be.
c

Teachable Moments

Some of the greatest lessons ever learned, are learned through adversity.  The saying that “That which doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger!” is absolutely true. While these teachable moments often don’t feel good, I believe in helping people to realize that their struggles will lead to something greater, that the bumps in their road are there for a reason, and that out of adversity, comes growth.
c

Care

I believe that caring for each other is what it means to be human.  I believe that it is critical for us to be caring, to become caring, and to create relationships with others that enable them to feel cared-for.  I believe that taking care of ourselves is not selfish but that it is critical if we are to have the ability to care for others.
c

Fun

I believe that if we’re not laughing, we’re not learning!  Venturing out of our comfort zones to learn new things should be FUN!  I strive to have fun with those in my work life, with my family in my home life, and in everything that I do.
